Hello! I'm Irish but I fell in love with India two years ago and now want to do a postgraduate degree there. I can't seem to find the information I need on the net. Hope someone here can help.

I'm almost finished my degree and I plan on taking a year or so out before doing a masters but thought I'd start planning early. :)

1. Is every masters (MA or MSc) in India 2 years long? In Ireland they are usually 15 months.
2. When does the college year start?
3. What holidays do Universities get?
4. How much does it cost to go to University in India? I presume it's more for foreigners. Also would anyone know roughly how much it would cost to stay in a University hostel for a year?
5. Is there any website that I can put in the name of the course I would like to do and it will show me a list of every course with that name in India?

Thanks very much for your help (in advance). I really want to go back to the country I love but I don't know where to start organising it.
I'd really love to do Development Studies/Human Rights/International Relations. Something like that. University of Calcutta looks great but I'd like to go somewhere that speaks Hindi as I would love to learn it.

Khublei (for anyone who speaks Khasi!!)

I am from India. Glad to know that you have immense love for India. If you are interested in studying at any Indian university, then you may be quite pleased to know that India offers huge variety of courses in degree or diploma which can help in the long run. Session generally starts in August with admissions in June or July. You can decide which field you want to opt and search from some of the sites.
