Why do people change their names????

Some people prefer to change their names. There can be many reasons:

[1] Whether it is so due to numerology (http://www.himalyanindia.com/dir/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Divination/Numerology/).
[2] Superstitious can be another reason.
[3] In some families, there is a tradition to change the name of newly wed girl.
[4] Few changes to bring them good luck.
[5] Some students generally change their names during board exams.
[6] or Any other reason....

he he he :D all superstitious person change their name, but i dont think it effect any once future, it is foolishness to do belive in numerology.

Some people also change their name because they dont like their name ... In young generation..... in india name is change just to show that they are modern .....

As for example
vikram==> vicky
vivek ==> vicky
sunil==> sunny
sameer==> sam
ricks, rocky, raj... and many more......
pooja==> poo
priyanka==> pinky
gurmeet==> gineey :D

So it depends on person to person what that think......

I agree with you Sunil. Some people do change their names to show their modern attitude. They are going far away from their culture. It only shows influence of west on Indians.

Well! changing names does not have any meaning and If I get a chance to change my name I will never do that.
