Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today inaugurated Delhi Metro`s new line connecting the capital`s hub with upcoming subcity of Dwarka in the South West.

The inaugural ceremony was held at Central Park over Delhi Metro Rail Corp`s Rajiv Chowk (Connaught Place) station. Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and Delhi (http://www.opendirectory.in/Regional/Delhi/) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were present at the function.

Delhi Metro, which is one of the best in world, is not only the pride of the national capital but the country as well. The 22 km-long line would open for public from 0600 hrs on December 31.

Hope they will utilise it in a proper way.

So how long in kms will be the line?

Now, The maximum distance has increased from 22 km to 40.5 km.

its 64 kms. but only 11 km is underground.

Kolkata has 16 kms underground.
