With the beginning of the year, fresh snowfall has enveloped the Kashmir Valley which continued since Sunday morning while dry plains have experienced light rains.
To the delight of residents and tourists, Kashmir Valley (http://www.opendirectory.in/Regional/Jammu_and_Kashmir/Travel_and_Tourism/) Monday woke up to a blanket of white after the season's first major snowfall, but it also led to closure of the national highway, the valley's lifeline.
The overnight snowfall covered the valley's length and breadth. The higher reaches had experienced the first snowfall earlier in November and the tourist resort of Gulmarg had it last month and on New Year's Eve.
Tourists in Gulmarg had a great time Sunday as heavy snow lashed the north Kashmir hill resort.
