KOLKATA:- The West Bengal government on Wednesday claimed there is no report on the spread of the bird flu disease in new areas in the state beyond five places in Birbhum and one in South Dinajpur district.
The state has, so far, announced that the highly contagious avian influenza has been detected among poultry chicken at Block-I and II at Rampurhat subdivision, Block-I and II at Nalhati subdivision, Block-I at Mayureshwar and within the Nalhati municipality area in Birbhum district and at one state-owned poultry farm at Balurghat in South Dinajpur district.
Hit by the killer disease, 35,000-40,000 chicken have died in Birbhum alone and another 26,000 at Balurghat.
