Can anybody tell me from where this superstitious came? Do you believe in Indian superstitions. If yes then to what extent. Sometime I also behave like superstitious on some situations.
There are couples of which I know:
- bad luck if black cat crosses your path
- good luck if black dog crosses your path
- something bad happen if dog cry
- good luck if you go out for new work or exam after eating curd
- bad omen if someone sneezes right before you are about to start or do something
- if your eye lid pulsates, it can be a sign of upcoming good or bad luck depending on whether it is your left or right eye.
and many-many more.....
Do you have any story/situation that proves or disproves above statements?

Every one have some sort of superstitious .... & If they deny that they don't have any superstitious ..... :D they are lieing..
To look at it in an analytical point of view in my opinion somethings need to be abstracted so as to see the view in the pradigm of reality. There are no doubt other views which one does not know of unless the perspective is altered. So in a way I think indian superstition is the abstraction of many Indian's view.

could u give an example....
sure, when sages meditate they alter their views people tell me they see a reflexion of themselves without the "I". So this alteration brings about a new perspective of seeing things in a whole new light or whatever you wanna call it and it generates some notions but every single detail cannot be explained when switching from the latter state to the former hence a general approximation of the details are expressed instead. Hope you understand. Take for instance math a universe can be formulated with mere symbols, anything beyond the restrictive nature of these symbols in identifying the universe is perhaps the superstition.

I am not lying. I have't believed in that all my life and i am pretty old. It is a result of some weakness of mind-temporary, flash or permanent weak personality. I have problems in my life anf few problems came and gone. IT NEVER LED ME TO BELIEVE IN ANY OF IT. I consider that few bad things will happen in life, no matter how much you avoid. We must develop courage that we shall meet the problem head on.....

from the same place the things like untouchability came=>ignorance. When India entered the dark ages in history ( I personally believe it to be around 1100 AD) when she was repeatedly invaded, it deteriorated from being a advanced seat of learning to a state of continous decay. It was then that we gave up the quest for knowledge. When people do that, they loose the ability to be reasonable and ask questions and start believing in ridiculous things.
Thats why the land of Vedas and texts like the arthashastra, charak's work on medicine din't produce anything scientific and knowledgable after this period. All texts after this period are literature, mostly patronising the kings or the cultures the authors belong to. This further degenerated with the coming of British, who brought out history texts to create a inferior mindset in Indians. They highlighted the Aryan theory, fight among kingdoms of ancient India to portray the supposedly inability of India to be one country ruled by its own people.
This further degenarated the Indian society. Probably its during this period, that in the name of following traditions, people started following what their parents and grandparents followed. Some of these are the ridiculous superstitions, others the practices of caste (which was not what varna system is in vedas), untouchability, social restrictions of freedom of women( we all know about how knowledgeable women were in ancient india- kalidas had an argument with vidyotama -remember?)
This is my opinion on how superstitions and other handicaps of our society came from. Basically, when we stopped being innovative, we became the slaves of our weaknesses.
Do you believe in Indian superstitions. If yes then to what extent. Sometime I also behave like superstitious on some situations.
No, but I have some of my own - totally innocous, sometimes funny, sometimes ridiculous ( For eg. when i was a kid, during the India - pakistan matches i used to sit on a chair in the same position for hours thinking if i get up a partnership would be broken)

i have discounted this many times. My mother stopped me many times and to prove it wrong i drove my bike straight away to office after this happened. Needless to say, I arrived safe home every time.
- good luck if black dog crosses your path
I din't know this existed :)
- something bad happen if dog cry
My neighbourhood in Bangalore was full of gangs of dogs. Needless to say, their songful tirades at nights din't correlate to many incidences of bad things in the area ( except me throwing some water on them in the dead of night to chase them away :D
- good luck if you go out for new work or exam after eating curd
Wow, now i understand how i turned out with flying colors in all exam and job interviews...MAA thnk u...(for forcing that spoon of curd down my throat) :))
- bad omen if someone sneezes right before you are about to start or do something
don't remember this to have ever caused a major problem for me. Or may be I don't keep a record of people's nasal behaviour before i start ;)
- if your eye lid pulsates, it can be a sign of upcoming good or bad luck depending on whether it is your left or right eye.
- or the involuntary muscle reacting in ur upper eye lid ? :d This can't be controlled just like the hiccups.

I am sure everyone has. If we follow each one of these superstitions none of us will be able to do anything in our daily lives. Its just that people find it very hard to say "yes my grandfather was wrong" even if facts prove it 100 times

A Superstition is the irrational belief that future events are influenced by specific behaviors, without having a causal relationship.
In India if cat crosses road is consider as bad luck and people use to postponed their work for which they are going generally they use to go back home.... In olden time people were advice to look after their milk when cat was found roaming in village, At that time milk was an important source of food/money etc. so they use to go home when cat cross their road...;)
Historically, black cats were symbolically associated with witchcraft and evil. In Hebrew and Babylonian folklore, cats are compared to serpents, coiled on a hearth. Originally in Britain and Europe, a black cat crossing one's path was considered good luck; however they were also seen by the church as associated with witches. This association with witches possibly stems from pre-Christian Europe when witches weren't considered evil. In fact it was the church, who considered them unholy and pagan, who altered their reputation. The black cat was still usually seen as good luck, however in the USA and parts of Europe which were affected by the witch hunts the association with witches caused them to be considered as bad luck. In places which weren't affected particularly by witch hunts, they retained their status as good luck, and are still considered as such in Japan and most of Britain
In Russia, there is still a popular belief that if a black cat crosses a person's path in the street, that person should either choose a different direction in order to walk around the cat's path or cross it holding a button in his/her fingers
Cats were often believed to be familiars of human witches. Cats are believed, by some Wiccans, to have the ability to sense the presence of spirits before humans notice them. Black cats, because of their ability to remain unseen in dark places or at night, were considered especially desirable partners for witches.
Recently in a discovery channel there was one program in which they found that dog have good telepathy/intuition.... …. Dog even understand when his master is starting from office to home. Dog will come and wait on door for his master. Dog even understand difference between sounds of two car of same company this all is true ….
So something bad happen if dog cry may be true.. & People use to say dog see yamdoot & my personal experience says when ever I had heard dog howling (crying) then in next two day I heard some one is dead.
Dog generally cries in winter were there are no light and no human being… I was staying in IOCL colony it was far from city.. During night when every one is sleeping dog use to cry but if I switch on my light all dogs stop crying …:D
It is consider that before eating any food we must feed dog. People say god gave food grain to dog but dog said I will not be able to cook so better give this to human being … they will give me….. and on behalf I will be look after them, It is always consider good if we give food to dog… :D … But survey and experiment show that wolf dog and fox use to follow human being coz what ever we leave behind they use to eat…
Bad omen if someone sneezes right before you are about to start or do something ...In olden time it was consider that person may fall ill they may have to look after him/her... so better don't leave when some one sneezes.
Hiccups can be control ... by drinking one glass water ... :D
Every one have some sort of superstitious ... like wearing same color shirt in exam... some sports man (cricketer) believe red band or handkerchife with them while playing game.
Good luck if you go out for new work or exam after eating curd... its a blessing given my elder.... it makes u psychologically strong and you are less tense your heart beat will be normal... you will not suffer from dehydration... exam is very critical for child and their parent... and nobody wants their child to fail...
