Bhubaneswar: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose treated the soldiers of his 'Azad Hind Fauz' as children whom he loved "more than own sons."
This softer side of Netaji came to light on Wednesday from a letter written by him on November 29, 1944 which is on display at Netaji museum at Cuttack as part of celebrations of his 111th birth anniversary.
Once known as Janaki Nath Bhavan, Netaji’s birthplace at Oriya Sahi in Cuttack has been developed as a museum in his memory.
Netaji's letter to the cadre was written in the letterhead of 'Arzi Hukumate Azad Hind' and the provisional government of free India.
In his letter, Netaji wrote:-
"My dear boys, on the eve of my taking off from the soil of Nippon, I want to send you my love and all good wishes for the success of your work. I have no son of my own. But you are to me more than my own son. Because you have dedicated your life to the cause which is the one and only goal of my life-the freedom of 'Bharat Mata.' I am confident that you will always remain true to the cause and that I am always with you in spirit."
