The .IN domain registrations, which was opened for public from February 16, have crossed 75,000 new registrations and the target of two lakh .IN registrations within six months will be achieved much earlier than estimated, a top official said on Monday.

The 75,000 new registrations have been achieved by the 18 registrars accredited in the .IN registry, said Amitabh Singhal, acting CEO of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), addressing a news conference in Chennai.

NIXI, which is promoted by the Department of IT, in association with the Internet Service Providers Association of India, expects to add another 12-18 accredited registrars by the end of this month, he said.

Hey,Ashish

What is the advantage of a simple .com over .com.in except in specifying where you are based?

Another thing:

Can you have two similar domain names ,one with ,say, baboons in the night.com as well as baboons in the night.com.in ?

Another further thing:
Which is cheaper, one with simple .com or one with .com.in?
