The best NRI account will be ICICI or SBI. They are the best. THey also provide high interest rate.

Beware of ICICI!!
I had a very bitter experience with ICICI. lot of promises just to attract investors. Every website u open, it flashes free money transfer to India
Problems with ICICI.
1. Issuance of fake drafts.
2. Swindling of funds. Money transferred does not reach your account. I personally know of people who have lost of lot of money.
3. Transfer only to India and not out of India!!. U cannot take your own money outside India.
Beware !! No redressal of complaints outside India. If you lose money, it is entirely your fault.
ICICI bank branches in most countries outside are not true branches but franchise/tie ups with other local banks in the respective countries.
Given the recent legal hassles/use of recovery agents in India, I would suggest any wise person to avoid this bank. If you have accounts please transfer your money to any other bank

I reponded to an online ad by CITI. They kept calling every other day. I mailed in an application. No calls no emails after that. The check was cashed. On September 10th, I called their US toll free no to enquire and was told that the application was recieved August 15 and the account already opened. I called the indian no 800-248-4674 and was told that because there was no date on my cable TV bill(for proof of residence) my application together with a check is being returned.
They did not have the common sense or courtesy to call me or atleast send me an e-mail. I also had sent other proofs of residence which should have been enough(brokerage statements). I will avoid them like the plague in the future. I just hope they do not screw up returning my check. They are great in selling but are really bad afterwards.
