Mohammad Afzal Guru, the man who attacked parliament has been sentenced a dealth penalty on 20th of October. 13 army personnel were killed in the incident and if the attackers succeeded our entire country would have gone under the control of terrorists.

However his hanging is debated in certain quarters of the country. The reasons given are that the peace process with pakistan will be hampered if this man is hanged. (As if pakistan wants peace in the first place.)
The CM ok Jammu and Kashmir ghulam nahi azad and and PDP chief Mehbooba mufti are requesting the president for the same.

Some noted people like arundhati roy and medha patkar also want clemency for the man. Some view points are we are a democratic state and we dont take an eye for an eye. We are a civilised society and so on.

On the other hand efforts are being made by ISI for the release of this man through another hijack or something similar as reported by Indian investigation agencies.

If this man is given clemency and say 6 months or a year down the line if ISI succeeded in hijacking a plane or kidnapping some kids from school. This man will walk free once again and we dont know how many lives will be lost.

And clemency is given to someone who regrets his acts. The way mehbooba mufti and ghulam nabi azad are shouting slogans of human rights i wonder if these people are indian at all. OR are they another bunch of terrorists in white collars???

Personally i do not recommend a death sentence but this is the rarest of rare cases, a guiding principle on which our courts declare a death sentence for a person. A year or so back a person from west bengal was hanged to death for raping and murdering an innocent school girl. His wife and family pressed hard for his clemency and there was a huge media outcry on the issue. But justice prevailed.

My opinion is that this man is a time bomb. His hanging may not be deterrant to other terrorists. But if hes not hanged it will certainly be a moral booster for them.

We as a state are too soft on these kind of people. Our noble hearts that let the enemy free on numerous occassions throughout indian history have resulted in numerous foreign invasions and their subsequent rule on our masses. Do we want history being repeated? Should kidness be to the extent of stupidity?

I dont care for political parties because congress have a lot at stake here. And his hanging has been deferred till a sentece comes from presidents office. And pressure is being created on the president from all quarters. Or will the congress deploy its typical half a century old startegy of delaying the issue till people completely forget about it?? We dont know. As an Indian I feel depressed today and wonder if at all we r safe in this country.

In any case this is my opinion. What do u people opine??

Arundhati roy and medha patkar should stop favoring terrorist... It’s better if they see internal matter of Indian people, not of terrorist.....

The way mehbooba mufti and ghulam nabi azad are shouting slogans of human rights on this ... i wonder if these people are Indian at all. The reasons given are that the peace process with Pakistan will be hampered if this man is hanged. (As if pakistan wants peace in the first place) ...:D :D… The CM ok Jammu and Kashmir ghulam nabi azad and and PDP chief Mehbooba mufti are requesting the president for the same.

Ghulam nabi azad and and PDP chief Mehbooba mufti should know our law is not made to entertain terrorist, we had given special right to Kashmir in our constitution but that never means that kashmiri should screw happiness of other Indian. You may be having soft corner with terrorist coz you need vote ….

I think in illegal way they may be voting for you.

My personal opinion is we should not bother about relationship with Pakistan in this matter or for peace process... those who do crime they should be punished.... Other wise all the time terrorist will kill Indian people and some jerk politician will come with idiotic idea like Gulam and Mufti....

Did Pakistani changed their verdict against Sarambit singh .... At that time these Gulam and mufti... were shutting their mouth...

Being a lawyer I can say capital punishment should be their in our country...

When it comes to law nothing should be compromise....

We are not living in 18th century... we are human being those who do act like wild animal in our civilized society they should be punish... Most of people thinks that giving capital punish is also not an act of civilized society.... on this I will say capital punishment is given in a rare circumstance when the crime is very sever or it is been proved that culprit will not going to change their state of mind and behaviors ... they will be killer only. .. So it is better to give them capital punishment.

Even So called super power (USA) do favor Capital punishment. They also give punishment of 150 year of jail …..Do you think anyone live till 150 year… ..:D ?

A death sentence is too little a punishment. A sentence of 150 years is symbolic and yet serves the purpose because the culprit never sees freedom for the rest of his life. Imagine how it would be to stay aloof from the rest of the world for the rest of ur life.
For serious crimes like terrorism targeting innocent civilians, the sentence should not only be life but should be life with solitary confinement, at least a good part of it. The culprit should be cut off from all social contacts, sound, light and just kept alive to face his misery every day.
Offcourse for that u need politicians with balls, not sissies who whimper at the slightest threat from terrorist, be it mufti's daughter kidnapped or the indian airlines flight hijack to release the terrorists.
i have nothin against saving the passengers of the flight but at least f***in politicians could have infected the bastard terrorists with some deadly virus that killed them in few days instead of letting them go scott free to plan further attacks on our country

Some time ago similar drama was seen in case of a murder from Bengal. I do not know, why is it so that all the human rights are with the criminals. Why the victims of the acts of the crimes are not heeded. Remember, it was an attack on the parliament, to kill the politicians. Due to presence of the Jawans, they did not succeed. But some Jawans had to lay their lives.

Human rights workers! please tell us that if they were not humans? and also that if they had been able to go inside the main parliament, what had to be fate of human rights of the 1 billion Indians.

I have no love for the bastard politicians, who are insisting upon the rights. but it surprises me that they can bend to such a low limit. They even did not care for those who laid lives for them.
