Hi everyone,
Its so so much satisfying to see a very healthy discussion about helath here...
Since u poeple have been into this for a long time and have experiences (may be both good and not so good); i would urge everyone to take a look at my case and then suggest/advice:
I have to reach my office usually by 9 am (at most 9:30 am) and ususally reach home in evening at sometimes 7 pm; sometimes 9:30 pm and the like. The job is very very demanding and competitive (as many people here are aware of that how tough work life has become these days). This means I almost daily feel exhausted mentally when i return home and this schedule is from Monday to saturday (sometimes even sunday).
I have ignore my health and have kept on gaining weight steadily and few weeks back I was surprised to know that I am 95 kgs from 75 kgs....I was shocked; felt like crying; angry on myself and a range of mixed emotions.
I decided then and there that I have to reduce my weight...
But inspite of my determination; will power and true desire; I am NOT able to exercise:
Reasons:
1. By the time I return from office; I feel so already tired that I have hardly any enthusiasm or energy or strength left in me to exercise. All i want is to eat something and lie down on bed.
I have exercised my strongest will power and and went out for walk few times (roughly two times or two days every seven days) when i returned from office at 7 or 8 pm; but again i could not walk for more than half an hour as i felt totally exhausted. Also after returning from office I feel so tired that i have hardly any energy left for anything; somehow i eat and then sleep.
All my motivation /strong will power/ toughness is not helping me when i return from office as bcz inspite of all these; when i return from office; I am almost like a dead man wanting to lie down on bed.
Leaving the job is not an option.
Also some of u may suggest me to exercise in the morning but again I have to get up as such at 6-7 am to be able to ready by 8 am as it takes an hour to reach office. I have tried to get up even earlier at 5 am so that I can exercise for one hour...BUT
a. I feel that its tough to get up at 5 am to exercise as bcz if i get up at 5 am; i feel less refresh and whole day at work/office is a bit challengeful as I feel sleppy.
b. Also a few times when i did get up and went for walking etc I was so tired that felt tired throughout the day at office.
I know I am caught in a vicious cycle but I must get out of it and dont know where to start and how?????
I would really appreciate for any suggestions and any comments; criticisms; opinions are more than welcomed.
Plz consider my exact situation as described while replying.
Thanks and best regards,

AGREED...
But God did help...
For the first time in my life I have decided I will not work a full week (of course if that is what is required) if required.
This means I have kept...
1. Health as no one priority....
2. Work second...
Why NOt work....bcz say if i work (like crazy daily) from morning when i get up...till late evening....I will have no energy to exercise in the evening initially...so I will take a sleep at afternoon for 4-5 hours (yes ) and then have sufficient mood / energy / will power to go out and just walk for one to two hours...
My idea is that if i can incorporate this exercise stuff somehow (which means from WORK perspective few days / weeks will be ineffective and inefficient) I can adjust my body accordingly so that I can ensure I can exercise one to
two hours and then take balance only as work load.
U may think i have gone crazy (and u may be right) but i have no options...

I am thinking about what you are saying but i am still not sure how to get started.
yesterday i walked for half an hour very very briskly (body burning while walking as hell)....came back...so tired (and yes yesterday onwards started very contolled diet)...just kept listening to CNBC; NDTV profit and z business news for 4 hrs in my AC room....
Going through withdrawal phase as consuming tea without sugar and little milk; only two pieces of broad (obviously toasted) without butter/salt/pepper...
HUNGER = cucumber + tomatoes (without salt/chat masala)
water water water everywhere...(keep on drinking and going to bathroom)
finding diffuclt to type also (actually not feelin like)
but yes will lie down and listen to my gavourite three channels whole day as have no energy to sit and work (and i am ready for that)

p.s. DO eat small meals throughout the day and favour the morning meals, instead of starving yourself for hours and then gorging yourself on dinner or lunch. :) :D

Know that it takes a great deal of dedication and willpower to simply commit to being healthy. It's not easy, but it's up to you to take control over your life.

I was caught in this cycle as well. The only way to get out is to take small steps and give yourself small time goals. For eg. Set yourself a small goal of walking 15 everyday for 5 days a week for 2 weeks. When you do this you will feel better at the end of it and you will get addicted. I know it sounds weird, but it really worked with me. The body begins asking for it beacuse it feels good. Another great idea that worked for me was not eating 2-3 hrs before going to sleep. So if you sleep at say 10 then dont eat anything after 7:30-8. even if you feel hungry. just have water. if you do this everyday for 5 days and weigh yourself you will see a change. I have lost almost 7 kgs by just taking these small steps and increasing the duration whenever i felt i could.
try and see if it works

To all those who are not able to find time to exercise along with their work, I would suggest to start exercising on weekends first. start small, dont do rigorous excersizing initially.
Once you have build up some stamina then you would be able to do light exercising on weekdays too ... and it can gradually increase
try keeping a skipping rope and skip for 10-15 mins either in the morning or evening.
Remember, you need to build stamina over time and it needs patience ...cannot be done overnight so have faith and continue what you start ...
all the best

First of all thank you Priyanka for your valubale information
seven dont's after a meal
(1) Don't smoke- Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).
(2) Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.
(3) Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.
(4) Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.
(5) Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.
(6) Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.
(7) Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.
Other than above do following thing for flat tummy
[1] Eat lot of Salad before taking lunch or dinner.
[2] Drink Lemon water.
[3] Dont take heavy meal in evening/night.
[4] Don't take heavy breakfast better take some fruit or fruit juice in morning.
[5] Avoid paratha and other oily stuff.
[6] If possible do joging or do skiping.
[7] If you are fully grown then don't drink more than one cup milk in a day.
[8] Walk minimum 2000 steps per day.
[9] If possible do exercies for your abdomene. (stomach exercise)
[10] Kapal Bharti is easy yoga and best for most part of body specially stomach and kidney.
Thats It

1. Keep you diet in check.
1.1 Start your day with healthy breakfast with lots of fiber/complex carbs/protein.
1.2 Include Oatmeal, Eggs, Baked Potatoes in your breakfast.
2. Keep your Blood Glucose Levels in check; Don't let them drop quite often
2.2 Eat small meals regularly in order keep your body in positive nitrogen balance and your insulin levels up. This will energise you throughout the day.
Try to shoot as many 6 small meals throughout the day ni the space of 2-3 hours; even in office.
3. If you don't have the energy to exercise, take help of some supplements. Pre-Workout Supplements and Post workout Whey protein shake can do wonders to your physique and energy levels.
Cut TRANS Fat in your diet, avoid fried and junk foods.
Whatever you eat, there should be a 40:40:20 equation in your diet.
40% of the total calories should be coming from Complex Carbs, 40% from Protein and 20% from Healthy Fats.
Take these VITAL multivitamins throughout the day.
Morning with Breakfast: 4 Caps of Seven Seas
Pre-Workout: Vitamin E 400 IU
Post-Workout: Vitamin B Complex
Nighttime (Before Slee): Zinc Capsule.

Hello There :) Why dont you go for a walk in your lunch break, and eat while you are walking - not walking fast and making yourself ill, just walking steadily. At least that way you are breaking the day and the walk will give you a lift. Cut out white bread, white pasta, processed food. Try to eat wholemeal and unprocessed. Make sure you meditiate at the end of the day, to get your head relaxed. Little steps lead to big steps. Sandy is right, dont eat after 7pm at night. Eat smaller meals rather than large meals, your body will soon get used to it. And if you drink alcohol, cut it out for at least a month. Alcohol puts on the most weight, and makes you depressed even though you think its helping, its not.

well guys seems u too are in real bad situation.... well even i have to work but not as bad as in ur case dude.
But one thing is for sure that HEALTH is something where you 'HAVE' to take time out for it.
REMEMBER 5 IMPORTANT THINGS:
1. DIET is the moist important thingh. So you have to avoid fatty things- eating outside, colddrinks, fast food. EAT rite and 50% of your work is done.
2. EXERCISE is the second important thing. YOU HAVE TO...and that means by any mean you have to do at least 2 days in a week. Sunday could be one, and i'm sure atleast 1 day any nerd can come outta office in a week.
3. SUPPLEMENTS like multimineral and multivitamin capsules 1 everyday
4. Drink luke warm lime water at least 5 times a day(helps in cutting down fat)
5. 1 tablespoon HONEY after your dinner.
I'M SURE THIS WILL GIVE YOU RESULTS IN 2 MONTHS IF DONE REGULARLY.
PS: THE ONLY IMPORTANT THING IS PERSISTENCY.
ALL THE BEST GUYS.

Just replace some of the high calorie foods you eat with fruits, vegetables and other water dense foods that keep you just as full.
We know it sounds too good to be true, but new research conducted at Pennsylavania State University suggests it is possible to lose weight by making small changes in your diet.
The rationale behind eating water dense foods is that whatever you eat can go out of the system very fast. E xample an apple which has 98 per cent liquid and very few calories. A sweet of the same size will have 20 times more calories.
People tend to eat the same amount of food each day, regardless of the calories. Adding vegetables to that pizza, lasagna or casserole will increase the food's volume and result in fewer overall calories consumed since portion sizes tend to stay the same
Another study on obesity shows a link between lack of sleep and gaining weight -- skimping on sleep may make you vulnerable to obesity.
The finding is based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in the US. The study discovered that people who reported getting less than seven hours of sleep a night were more likely to be obese on initial evaluation.
Why water is necessary
1. Our bodies contain over 70 percent water.
2. You can go longer without food than water.
3. Our bodies need a lot of water to function efficiently.
4. Water helps flush out harmful toxins and thus readies the body for fat loss.
When your body is not getting enough water
~It tries to hold on to the water it has. Since over 70 percent of our muscle is made of water, the lack of it makes our body use the existing water for other functions, leaving you bloated.
~How do you get rid of that excess water? By drinking enough water!
Hot or cold water?
~Many experts tend to advocate cold water, because the stomach absorbs it more quickly.
They believe that cold water might enhance fat burning.
~Warm water is, however, easier to drink in large quantities and you might drink more of it without even realising it. Do whatever suits you, here. Just drink more!
How much water?
You must drink at least seven to eight glasses (1.9 litres) of water a day.

It seems like everybody here is interested in loosing weight.
But, unlike it seems to be, there is a technology which has already entered India and is veryeasy way of loosing weight.
It is called Positrim.
It is a meal replacement program which gives all the essential nutrients required for the body, except the calories. So, what happens next is with the support of all the available nutrients, body starts to consume the existnig calories out of fat and cholestrol. This happens without changing the basic metabolic rate which is quite common when peopel adopt to vigorous exercise trainings.
Exercising is good but When vigorous exercises are adopted to reduce weight, the metabolic rate increases and then puts on weight when we stop exercising. Similar thing happens when we opt for skipping meals. Body tends to store energy due to insufficient nutrition. Then again tends to put on weight when normal meals is taken.
Because there is no metabolic changes happening the body can loose its weight naturally.

Hey,
I read each and every word of ur post...I dont know why U hv written it man as u have excuse for everything. What do u think of ppl who r reading ur post, are they god or geniuses who can swirl a magic wind and take away ur fat??? Neways, I am not here to criticize u, the only point i wanna make here is that its u and ur laziness by which u have reached this level. And all what u consider as hardwork and will power is not real hardwork and will power. I am a fitness freak and I had to increase my weight. Even during my exams, I did not miss my gym sessions. I workout whenever I get time. In todays world nobody has time but u have to take it out. By ur post, I can see the only vialble time left for u is in the morning. Why cant u work out in the morning. I am writing a fitness plan for U:
1. Sleep early. Most probably by 11pm (if u can make it 10,it wud be better). So that U can get up at 5pm.
2. Do basic exercises, run, jog, skip,do some crunches and all
3. Take a good breakfast which is protein rich. U can also take sprouted beans or salad like cabbage. U can take boiled eggs as well.
4. Dont start with heavy training from day one. Start with brisk wark and then start increasing ur exercises as u start getting used to it.
5. Take light dinner which is very low on fats.
6. Break your meals in lighter meals 4-5 times a day.
7. Take light dinner.
Remember, theres no quick formula for success. If u think u wud lose 10 kgs in a month, then forget it. Its not possible, U wud probably disappoint urself and nothing else. Losing and gaining weight is a slow process so dont expect much. And yeah, a lot depends on ur deit. So, consult a dietician if u can. And stop giving excuses to urself, they wud be the last thing working for u....
Best of luck...Tc

Eat Chapati and Bhaji only, stop non-veg and less oily things. Stop eating roadside foods like samosa, have kurmura. Get up at 6 am (or 5 am) and walk, walk, till U sweat enough to wet UR shirt, keep UR heart rate beating fast for 10 mins U should be able to feel UR heart going in your chest. Get URself a pedometer, Sony india has active (sports) MP3 player 1 GB for 4,000 Rs. and 2 GB for 5000. It will count UR steps and movement and calories per day. Take at least 5000 steps a day to maintain UR weight.
Remember dont cry, it wont HELP. You have to move baby move.

No Bengali Sweets at all. Drink diet Coke when U feel like partying.
hi friend
yes its very much compulsory to have a strong will power n dedication if u really desire something in life!! doesnt matter even if its weight reduction!!
i understand u do have a busy schedule of ur job but u can still manage to shed few kgs if u try hard!
egs-u can choose stairs to go to ur cabin or table instead lift!
u can park ur car a kilometer away in walk to ofc building!
u can just get up n keep having glasses of water in middle of ur work as water does help n ur walk towards it daily wud too.
i dont know wats ur food habit but i m sure u not watching that.if u can sumhow cut off the rice from ur diet n that too specially at dinner,it wud help u alott.if u really dont have time to do excercise(thats necessary though) then atleast try hard to control ur diet.To b frank food n excercise goes hand in hand.but if u r real busy person or weak in will power then i wud suggest u to plz atleast start with any one of it.there r many ways to replace food n eating habits.....hmmmn will tell u later once u promise n try hard to gain will power!!!gud luk

Hi....
Its very confusing when there are lots of advise given but no one to say which one is good.
I too faced similar issues ..... I wasn’t always overweight. This is the result of my love for food and not enough exercise. Over time this gave me the extra kilos :o ... let me tell you something, once you put on the excess kgs, it’s damn difficult to lose it. I agree with you have to MAKE time for you HEALTH.
I have followed most of the diets available on the web and also the advise from friends and well wishers on what i should do and how i should do it. But in all this i realized that no one was actually helping me to take the first step.
A friend of mine recommended www.chihealth.in for losing weight. Being the skeptic, I reluctantly signed up for their weight-loss program. You won’t believe the surprise that was waiting for me.
Within minutes of my registering for the service, I received a call from a rep telling me how to get started, my info, etc. I was also told that a dietician, a fitness expert & a doctor are assigned to me. Wow! I started thinking how will they help me??? My question was answered when I got a call from the dietician who explained how the program works and how they will work with me to shed the excess weight the healthy way :) ...
It’s been almost a month for me with Chi; I never expected to lose 1.5kgs with small changes suggested by Chi and to top all that my Chi team took the time to build confidence and motivated me to make these changes to my daily life.
Now I know what “Health at your finger tips” means and finally got my question answered "How to take the first step" :)
And all this is completely online and is free too. There are lots more on the website.
