Govt approves trade pact with Libya

The government on Thursday gave its approval for signing a bilateral investments promotion and protection agreement between India and Libya.
"This agreement will be in force for 10 years and it will open up investment opportunities for Indians in Libya," Finance Minster P. Chidambaram said after a meeting of the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

India currently has similar bilateral pacts with 57 countries. Agreements with another seven countries are being finalised and negotiations are on with another 18 nations.
