Guru Nanak Jayanti or Gurpurab is most important festival of Sikhs, which is celebrated in India and all over the world. Guru Nanak started Sikhism.

Guru Nanak Jayanti Sikh festival falls in the month of Kartik (October/November). Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak's Birthday and the other Gurpurbs with an Akhand Path, a reading of the Sikh holy scriptures, the Guru Granth Sahib, continuously from beginning to end.

Though Guru Nanak Dev Ji are looked as the creator of Sikhism and Guru Nanak Jayanti in most parts of India is treated as celebration related with Sikhism but as Adi Guru Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji are the religious masters of considerable huge population of Sindhis hence in the life of Sindhis importance of Guru Nanak Jayanti is very high and this day is treated as the most meaningful day.

Baisakhi marks the beginning of the solar year (New Year) as well as the harvesting of North India’s main crop, and is celebrated in Punjab with great fervour. For Sikhs, the day is also a commemoration of the founding of the Khalsa Panth (Sikh brotherhood) by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
