Maha Shivratri, the grand night of Shiva this year will fall on 27th of February 2014. Maha Shivratri will fall on a moonless February night; it is celebrated annually with much fervor and enthusiasm to honor Lord Shiva.

Maha Shivaratri, the night of the worship of Shiva, occurs on the 14th night of the new moon during the dark half of the month of Phalguna. 

Shivaratri is celebrated on the 6th night of the dark Phalgun (Feb or March) every year. On the auspicious day, devotees observe fast and keep vigil all night.Mahashivaratri marks the night when Lord Shiva performed the 'Tandava'.
